Kenya Lionesses

The Kenya Lionesses are the national women’s rugby sevens team, representing Kenya in international competitions. Known for their resilience and athleticism, the Lionesses have grown into one of Africa’s most competitive teams. They regularly compete in tournaments such as the Africa Women’s Sevens, the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series qualifiers, and the Commonwealth Games. Over the years, the team has earned recognition for its disciplined play and fast-paced style, often challenging more established sides on the global stage.

The Lionesses are managed by the Kenya Rugby Union and serve as an important symbol of women’s empowerment in Kenyan sports. Many of their players have become role models, inspiring young girls across the country to pursue rugby. Despite challenges such as limited funding and exposure compared to their male counterparts, the Lionesses continue to rise in prominence, driven by talent, determination, and a deep sense of national pride.
