My journey in iGaming began during my time at Standard Media Group, where I worked as an Account Manager for KTN.
A significant client for Geoffrey was Betika, a leading betting company in Kenya. Managing their advertising campaigns offered a valuable glimpse into the dynamics of the gaming industry.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic brought significant changes.
Advertising budgets were slashed, and commissions became harder to earn. This prompted me to explore new opportunities, and I successfully transitioned into a Product Manager role at Betika.
This career move proved to be a turning point, as Geoffrey states:
Betika provided me with invaluable exposure and training in the iGaming industry, from understanding product development to mastering customer engagement strategies.
He adds:
Looking back, I pride myself on my stint at Betika – it officially introduced me to the world of iGaming and set me on the path I’m on today.

If I could go back, I would focus more on networking and building stronger relationships within the industry. Networking is a powerful tool for learning, collaboration, and career advancement, and I’ve come to appreciate its value over time.
He also acknowledges the importance of technical skills:
I would have invested time in learning software engineering or at least one or two programming languages… That’s why I’m currently pursuing data science—to enhance my analytical skills and better leverage data in decision-making.

My advice would be to settle in, adapt, or quit.

- be authentic – authenticity builds trust. Share your journey, successes, and even challenges to connect with your audience on a deeper level.
