Sheila Chelangat is a Kenyan long-distance runner born on April 11, 1998. She rose to prominence by winning a bronze medal in the 3000 meters at the 2015 World U18 Championships. Chelangat has since become a key figure in Kenyan athletics, winning national cross-country titles in 2020 and 2021. She represented Kenya at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, finishing 16th in the 10,000 meters. In 2024, she won the Istanbul Half Marathon, setting a personal best of 1:06:47. Despite her success, her career faced a setback in May 2025 when she was provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) due to a positive test for EPO, a banned performance-enhancing drug. Trained in Kericho under coach Gabriel Kiptanui and affiliated with the Kenyan police, Chelangat remains a talented athlete whose future depends on the outcome of the doping investigation.
