Welcome to the latest installment of iGaming Kati Yetu, where we explore the journeys and insights of key figures in the iGaming industry. Today, we’re featuring Eric L. Gerald, Director and Head of Operations at Ultimate Gaming System Limited, who brings over nine years of experience in both sports betting and online casino operations. Let’s dive into his story and expert advice.
Eric L. Gerald’s journey in iGaming
Eric’s entry into the gaming industry dates back to mid-2016, thanks to an opportunity provided by his friend and mentor Jimmy Kenneth at Mkekabet. Guided by Jimmy, Ronald Louis, and other colleagues, Eric quickly absorbed the fundamentals of gaming operations-a foundation that has shaped his career ever since.
The best career decision
Eric’s most pivotal decision was moving from Mkekabet to WinPrincess at the end of 2019. He explains:
I chose to move from a stable role into a fast-paced startup because I wanted to challenge myself and grow faster. This decision exposed me to leadership opportunities, cross-functional team management, and rapid personal growth in problem-solving and adaptability.
He led a cross-functional team, gained exceptional confidence, and learned more in one year than in the previous three. It also helped him develop problem-solving skills and adaptability that he applies in every role.
If he could turn back time
Reflecting on his path, Eric shares:
If I could go back, I would have pursued a career in the humanitarian sector, applying my degree in Environment and Disasters Management to aid refugees and regions affected by crises. That passion still resonates with me.
Advice for newcomers
Eric advises those entering iGaming to focus equally on technology and regulations:
iGaming is driven by tech, data, and user experience, but it’s also tightly regulated. Whether you’re a developer, marketer, or entrepreneur, understanding both sides-innovation and compliance-will set you up for long-term success.
Building a personal brand in iGaming affiliation
Eric recommends the following strategies:
- choose your specialty,
- be ethical and responsible,

- actively promote responsible gambling.
Strategies for responsible gambling
To help players control their budgets and avoid gambling problems, Eric suggests:
